The Department of Community Nutrition is one of pioneers of the development of nutrition science in Indonesia. It is well known for its expertise in the application of nutritional scienses for individuals (human nutrition) and families/communities (communty nutrition) by relating agriculture, food, nutrition and health for the improvement of human quality. The Department expert in fouth aspects of nutrition, namely :
- basic Nutrition
- Applied Nutrition
- Food Service Management and Environmental Health, and
- Food and Nutrition Policy
The summer course will provide a comprehensive overview on Maternal and Child Nutrition Program in Indonesia. The Departement of Community Nutrition IPB University will host Insternational experts in the field of Maternal and Child Nutrition Program from Indonesia, Thailand, Japan and Malaysia. Participants will experience how community health services are held in the respective countries.
A case-based learning system is used in this course which comprises of various method if delivery such as interactive lectures, discussion, field visits, hand-on experience in product development, group work and presentation. The topics that will be covered in this summer course :includes this following:
- Overview of nutrition & health profile of Indonesia
- Maternal and child nutrition development program in Indonesia
- Health & Nutrition programs of International and local NGOs
- Case study of Nutrition & Health Programs in Malaysia, Thailand and Japan
- Nutrition Food Product Development
